In a candid conversation with VJ Adams on his show Off The Top, Veekee James let down her guard completely to reveal the softer parts of her story on love, marriage, and the little things that define her.
Growing up with a single mother who was a tailor, having lost her father at the tender age of 5, Veekee remembers a childhood filled with hustle, but surprisingly, never pressure. “I did a lot of things growing up,” she recalls. “My mom taught me how to work with my hands. I knew how to knit, I sold things, I helped her with sewing. But it was always fun.”
On Meeting Her Husband

She describes their first meeting as love at first sight. Although she was in a relationship at the time, she admitted she couldn’t ignore how drawn she felt to him whenever she saw him.
After that relationship ended, they began talking and eventually went on their first date.
VJ Adams asked how she always knew he was the one. She explained that he brought her peace. “I define love as peace,” she said, adding that his calm presence made everything feel right.

A Woman of Many Talents
Beyond fashion designing, Veekee is a bundle of talents. She can sing, act, cook, and even has a solid understanding of interior design. Confident in her abilities, she jokingly added that if she decided to become a photographer today, she would rank among the top three in the country.
Speaking about acting, she revealed that she started as early as JSS3. Her mother was initially against it after a production required her to stay on set for an entire weekend. Although she was allowed that one time, her mother never permitted her to return to acting afterward. Veekee also shared that at just 13 or 14, she had an uncomfortable experience on set, which further influenced that decision.
Despite this, she says singing and acting are still part of her long-term plans. For now, her schedule is packed, but if she returns to music, she would love to feature Annatoria. As for acting, she hopes to first build enough wealth to produce her own films and star in them.

Cooking, she explained, is her personal escape. “Cooking is my way to relax. I enjoy it,” she said.
God at the Centre

Popularly called the “Daughter of Zion”, Veekee says God is the foundation of her business. She credits Him for inspiring her to use her own name as her brand and shared that she fasts and prays while developing her designs. She finds fulfillment in knowing that other designers she inspires also take God seriously in their businesses.
