Content creation has become a major part of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with many creators building large audiences through skits and social media videos. However, some creators have gone beyond content creation to explore other areas of entertainment, including music, acting and streaming.
Folagbade Banks, Kamo State, Nasboi, Carter Efe and Shank Comics have all used their platforms to build careers outside traditional content creation. While some still create skits, they have expanded their careers and taken on new opportunities in the entertainment industry.
1. Folagade Banks
Abiri Tobi Festus, popularly known as Folagade Banks, has become one of the most talked-about Nigerian Instagram creators. He blends humour, lifestyle and trending topics in ways that keep his followers engaged. His content often reflects the realities of Nigerians, making his videos relatable and easy to understand. 
Folagade Banks also understands internet culture and consistently creates content that sparks conversations online. This approach has helped him maintain strong visibility on Instagram and other social media platforms.
He has now moved from creating content and skits into acting and film production. Folagade Banks became the first Nollywood actor to premiere a Kava Original movie, A Mama Deola Wedding Story, on a streaming platform Kava. He also serves as the executive producer of the project, taking his career from content creation into producing a Kava original movie.

2. Kamo State
Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has built one of the most popular success stories in Nigeria’s digital entertainment industry. His comedy style and relatable storytelling generate millions of views and strong audience engagement.
He stands out because he creates content that feels genuine and connects with everyday Nigerian life. His collaborations with celebrities and other creators have also expanded his influence.
Kamo State has moved beyond the skit industry he is now into acting, where he has starred in major cinema projects such as Behind the Scenes. He has also started his own project, Starlomo coming to the Cinemas soon.
3. Nasboi
Lawal Michael Nasiru, popularly known as Nasboi, is a successful comedian and musician. He commands a strong following on Instagram, where he combines comedy, music promotion, lifestyle content and trending social conversations.
His humorous personality and relatable online presence continue to keep his fans engaged. Nasboi remains active in the skit industry while also building his career in music.
He released his debut EP, In Nasboi I Trust, in 2024. The project featured collaborations with 2Baba, Chike, Joeboy and Pheelz.

4. Carter Efe
Efe Oderhohwo, popularly known as Carter Efe, gained recognition through comedy, skits and content creation before he moved into streaming on Twitch. He has since become one of the most followed Twitch streamers in Africa.
Carter Efe achieved another major feat on December 13, 2025, when his livestream with Shallipopi attracted 26,000 live viewers. During the stream, he became the first African streamer to cross 11,000 Twitch subscribers, marking a major milestone on the platform.
On December 17, 2025, Carter Efe broke the record for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa when his livestream with Davido attracted 83,000 viewers. He also became the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on Twitch.
Carter Efe has also surpassed Shanks Comic to become the most-followed African streamer on Twitch. He reached the milestone after a record-breaking three-hour livestream with Afrobeats star Davido.
5. Shank Comics
Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, first gained recognition through the skits he created before he transitioned into streaming on Twitch.
The Nigerian comedian and Twitch streamer is known for his skit-making and the slogan “Lit Gang”. Although he still makes skits, he now focuses more on streaming.
Shank gained prominence through Nigeria’s skit scene and often collaborates with musicians such as Oxlade during live Twitch broadcasts. His relatable humour around everyday situations in Nigeria also connects with his audience.
Clips of his interactions with fans during IRL streams often circulate on YouTube Shorts and other social media platforms. Shank continues to blend comedy and gaming culture for his audience on Twitch and social media.
