A Nigerian man, Jonathan Jibo, has raised the alarm after his 37-year-old sister, Ms Saratu Jibo Yusuf, allegedly disappeared shortly after arriving in Qatar.
Saratu travelled from Lagos to Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR1408 on Tuesday, September 1. Her family last spoke with her through WhatsApp while she was still airborne.
According to her brother, someone was waiting to receive her at Hamad International Airport. However, the person could not find her after the flight landed safely. 
He said airport officials and the airline confirmed that she had collected her luggage. Yet, her whereabouts remain unknown. The family has now appealed for urgent help to locate her.
Family Raises Concern Over Missing Woman, Saratu Jibo Yusuf
Saratu reportedly worked at Lagos International Airport for almost 12 years. Therefore, her family described her as someone familiar with airport procedures.
Her brother said this was her first trip abroad. He added that she had no friends in Qatar. She had also arranged her accommodation and other necessities months before travelling. A longtime family friend reportedly helped organise her relocation.
“She’s not even a child. She’s 37 and always wants to be independent and hardworking,” her brother said.
He said she planned to resume work in Doha several weeks after her arrival.
“She paid for her accommodation and everything sorted out months ahead before the journey, the man who worked out everything is a family friend for long, and she was to resume work in Doha weeks after arrival.”
However, the family has been unable to reach her phones since her arrival.
Family Seeks CCTV Footage
Her brother, Jonathan, said he had advised the agent involved to report the disappearance. He added that the family had begun communicating with the relevant authorities. They hope CCTV footage from the airport can reveal her movements after landing. The family also hopes the footage could identify anyone who may have interacted with her.
“I told the agent to file a report with the authorities which we have been communicating well so we can see the CCTV camera footage of her ‘last seen’ and identify who was with her last. That can give us a lead,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jonathan said the family remains confused about what happened. He expressed particular concern for their mother, who has been waiting anxiously for news.
“I don’t even know what to tell mum, who has been hoping to hear from her,” he wrote.
Appeal for Help to Find Her
Jonathan stressed that Saratu independently funded her journey. They said she did not travel through a free relocation arrangement. Her brother has now appealed to Nigerians and authorities for assistance.
He also sought clarification about the Nigerian embassy’s official X account in Doha.

The family hopes increased attention will generate useful leads. For now, they are waiting for information from authorities and anyone who may have seen her.
