An unemployed father reportedly received ₦1.2 million during a Father’s Day church service after saying he needed only ₦5,000 to buy food for his family.
Victoria Olamide shared the incident on X, recounting what transpired during the service.
According to her post, the pastor asked members of the congregation whether anyone urgently needed ₦10,000 to resolve a family challenge and invited such a person to come forward. 
After a brief silence, a man stood up and explained that he had lost his job and was facing financial difficulties.
According to the account, the man said he needed only ₦5,000 to buy food because his family had not eaten since the previous morning.
The pastor then requested his account details.
Victoria Olamide said the pastor subsequently transferred ₦1.2 million to the man.
According to the post, ₦200,000 was meant for food and immediate family needs, while the remaining ₦1 million was provided to help him restart his life after losing his job.
The story quickly gained attention on social media, where many users reacted to the unexpected gesture.
One user wrote, “When it’s your time for God to remember your case, pray you’re at the right place because, sometimes, it’s not that God is far away from you or because he isn’t hearing your prayer, but it’s simply because you’re not where you ought to be for him to locate you.”
Another user described the moment as a reminder of the impact a single act of kindness can have on someone’s life.
“That’s a beautiful one. A small act of kindness can sometimes transform someone’s life into a blessing. May we all be instruments of help and hope to others when we have the opportunity,” the user wrote.
