How sinister that three sisters in their 30s have been found dead after their bodies were recovered from the sea off Brighton. Was it an accident? Planned suicide or a horrendous murder?
The women were Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walter, 32, and Rebecca Walter, 31. They lived in the Uxbridge area of northwest London.
No doubt their families are devastated, and police have put on their thinking caps, working hard to establish what led to the tragedy that happened before the crack of dawn on Wednesday, 13 May, after reports of a person in the water near Madeira Drive. Two more bodies were later recovered from the sea in the same area.

Joseph, their father, expressed that the loss of not just one, but three of his children, had left him with an indescribable pain.
He said: “No words can truly describe the pain of losing three daughters in the prime of their lives.”
He described them as the heart of the family, saying: “Jane, Christina, and Becky were more than daughters to me; they were my joy, my strength, and the beautiful light that filled our family with happiness and love.”
He spoke about their personalities and the memories they left behind, saying each of them carried something special that made them unforgettable.
“Your smiles brightened dark days, your laughter brought comfort, and your presence made life more meaningful.”
“Though your time on earth was short, the impact you made will remain in our hearts forever. You were deeply loved, and you will always be deeply missed.”
He added that the grief comes in waves, and there are moments where it feels too heavy to bear, but he holds tightly to the memories they shared as a family.
“Though you are no longer physically present with us, your spirit continues to reside in our hearts every day. Love like yours never dies.”
Sussex Police said the investigation into how the sisters ended up in the water is ongoing. Officers said, “There is no evidence to suggest third-party involvement or criminality, but specialist detectives are working hard to gather the full facts and circumstances of their deaths.”
Detectives continue to examine CCTV footage and other enquiries as they try to trace the women’s final movements around Brighton seafront.
Police have also asked members of the public who may have seen the women in the Madeira Drive area between the night of 12 May and the early hours of 13 May to come forward.
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said officers are working to understand exactly what happened, stating, “I’d like to reassure the public we will leave no stone unturned in our investigation to understand exactly what led to the tragic events of that Wednesday morning,” while asking the public to give the family space as they come to terms with the loss.
He added, “This investigation will continue in earnest, with Jane’s, Christina’s and Rebecca’s families at its centre. I would ask that they be given the privacy to come to terms with this terrible tragedy.”
While investigations continue, the focus remains on supporting the family as they navigate their loss while our minds are left trying to piece what lead to their gruesome demise.
