Osun State’s Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, is famous for being a dancer, a crowd-pleaser, a TikTok-beloved politician, and the uncle of Afrobeats Superstar, Davido.

Recently, he has been trending for even more. He appears to have entered a new phase of premium political drama, and somehow, everything happened within weeks.

The Resignation That Broke the Internet (and PDP’s Peace of Mind)

The first bomb dropped when a resignation letter surfaced online on December 1, 2025. Adeleke had officially quit the PDP, the same party that made him Senator and later Governor. In the letter, he blamed “the crisis of the national leadership of the PDP” and signed off immediately.

The next day, Davido posted a cryptic message on X that set the internet on fire.

    “Jeje…”

While supporters were trying to decode Davido’s “Jeje,” PDP members were dealing with bigger problems. Five federal lawmakers resigned, panic spread across Osun, and the PDP started holding emergency meetings like a startup that just lost funding.

Just when Nigerians thought the situation couldn’t get gistier, Adeleke found himself in another viral moment—this time, involving the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

At an official event, while the governor was mid-performance (yes, singing worship songs), the First Lady stepped in, whispered something to the Ooni of Ife, and then walked straight to Adeleke to cut him off. Nigerians argued for days. Some said she was abrupt; others said she was right. But everyone agreed on one thing: While Governor Adeleke’s energy is undefeated, his timing seems questionable.

This followed an earlier incident where former President Obasanjo publicly scolded him for arriving late. That day, Baba even jokingly fined him. Nigerians laughed, but they didn’t forget.

The Defection That Almost Happened and the One That Finally Did

Before the real twist, Adeleke had secretly tried to defect to the APC to secure a smoother ride for the 2026 elections earlier in the year. He met power players from Abuja to Lagos. Branded outfits were reportedly ready. Rallies were warming up. But the APC said “No, thank you,” and the plan collapsed instantly.

However, in December, Adeleke took the next flight, politically speaking, and landed in the Accord Party, where he has now declared to run for a second term. He said the party’s “welfarism philosophy” aligns with his style. ( The style being dancing?)

Party leaders gathered at Government House for his declaration, and Adeleke promised continuity, welfare, and, presumably, better time management.

        What’s Next?

Osun is entering its 2026 election season with a governor who knows how to move crowds, both emotionally and choreographically. PDP is wounded, Accord is celebrating, and Nigerians are watching this Netflix series.

One thing is sure: Adeleke’s second-term journey will not be boring.
