More than two years after the death of Nollywood comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, his family has made a public appeal for financial assistance.

The appeal came during an emotional visit by content creator King Mitchy, who shared a video showing the late actor’s widow and children speaking about the financial challenges they have faced since his passing.

In the video, Mr Ibu’s widow, Stella Marris Okafor, revealed that the family has struggled to meet basic living expenses after the passing of her husband.

According to her, they have been unable to pay their house rent, a situation that has also affected their access to running water.

“We fetch water from the well because I have not been able to pay the house rent,” she said.

She also disclosed that their electricity had been disconnected for about two months over unpaid bills.

“They have even cut off our light for two months now. Every night we go out looking for where to charge our phones. It’s not easy,” she added.

Stella further revealed that her three children are no longer attending school because she cannot afford their fees.

According to her, the school recently informed her that the children could not continue without payment.

One of the late actor’s daughters also spoke in the video.

She thanked her mother for doing everything possible to keep the family together despite their financial difficulties.

“I want to thank God for my mum. She tries everything she can to feed us, pay our school fees and make us happy,” she said before appealing to Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry for support.

King Mitchy, who shared the video on her social media platforms, called attention to the family’s situation and appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to assist them with school fees, house rent and other essential needs.

Following the release of the video, many Nigerians took to social media to express sympathy for the family, with several users urging colleagues, fans and industry stakeholders to support the late actor’s wife and children during the difficult period.
