In recent years, Hollywood celebrities have been actively reconnecting with Africa by acquiring citizenship across the continent.

This movement largely began in 2019, when Ghana launched the Year of Return initiative, inviting people of African heritage around the world to come home, reconnect, and invest.

Since then, countries across West and Central Africa have opened their doors through ancestry-based laws and special citizenship programmes to Hollywood celebrities, and some now hold African citizenship either through ancestry, cultural ties, or special government initiatives.
