Davido has constantly been in conversations where baby-mama issues among Nigerian celebrities are mentioned.

There has been one such case recently where Anu ‘Adeleke’ came online to drop a statement asking Nigerian singer Davido for a paternity test to stamp her identity as she steps into a new stage in her life – secondary school education. She claimed the lack of a paternal figure in her life has made her a victim of bullying and shame in school.

This issue of Davido fathering a child and abandoning her with the mother had been brought up as far back as 2014 and constantly over the years, drawing heavy media and public attention.

The Press Conference

To address the issue and answer the questions most Nigerians have been asking since Anu came online to ask for a DNA test, Deji Adeleke, father to Davido, held a press conference.

Deji Adeleke showcased evidence of DNA tests done within and outside Nigeria, which all came out negative. He narrated from the beginning how Ayo Labinjoh, alleged baby mama, alongside her mother Ropo Labinjoh approached him in 2014 asking for a DNA test.

The DNA Evidence and Allegations of Impersonation

  • Multiple Negative Results: According to the evidence he presented, multiple DNA tests were conducted, all of which showed that Davido is not the child’s father. They even did two paternity tests with his cousin, B-Red, and he wasn’t the father either. However, the child’s grandmother keeps insisting the child belongs to Davido.
  • Social Media Impersonation: In the press conference, he mentioned that the social media accounts used to communicate with Davido on Instagram under the girl’s name were not operated by the child but by Kemi Olunloyo, who is impersonating a minor.

Educational Support and Disappearance

Deji Adeleke also talked about how he had offered Ayo Labinjo a place in Adeleke University, where she studied English language up till her 300 level and was never seen within the school premises anymore. He claimed that the mother and grandmother of Anu ‘Adeleke’ may have influenced her to stop schooling since the Adelekes refused to accept the child.

According to him, it would make no sense for him to reject a child if she were truly his granddaughter, as he has the financial means and space to care for her:

I have 14 grandchildren, and they always come to see me during the weekends. I call them my roommates. Why would I deny another grandchild? Does it mean that we cannot afford to take care of her or what?”

Legal Action and Conditions for Support

During the conference, journalists asked whether he planned to take legal action against the woman. He responded that he was considering it and would discuss it with Davido, especially because she, Kemi Olunloyo, was impersonating a minor, spreading false information, and making damaging claims about his family.

When asked if he had considered retraining or supporting the mother, he presented chat evidence showing:

  • Scholarship Offer: He offered to sponsor Anu’s education by enrolling her in Adeleke High School on a scholarship.
  • The Condition: This was on the condition that the mother returned to university to complete her degree.
  • Employment Plans: He also mentioned plans he had to provide Ayo Labinjo with a job in Adeleke University after her university and master’s degree so she would be able to take care of Anu.

Netizen Reactions and the “Other Man”

Given that Davido has multiple baby mamas, many netizens believe the woman may be attempting to take advantage of the Adeleke family’s wealth. Deji Adeleke also claimed that the same woman admitted to having sexual relations with another light-skinned man, who is married, and that this man allegedly refused to do a DNA test because he did not want his wife to find out about the affair.

Many Nigerians have criticised what they see as double standards, questioning why the woman insists on linking the child to Davido but refuses to pursue DNA testing with the other man involved.
