Afrobeats superstar Davido is trending again. But this time not for a new single. It’s a social media post he made.
On January 26, 2026, the Grammy-nominated singer reposted a viral video of American streamer iShowSpeed receiving a famed 10-woman shea butter massage during his Ghana stop. Davido tagged his wife, Chioma, with a playful caption that read:
“@thechefchi oh boy my darling wife pls permit me 😅😅 this nah Ghana???”

What was meant as light, affectionate banter quickly jumped platforms. In no time, screenshots of Davido’s Instagram Story was everywhere on X (formerly Twitter). His comment sparked a heated range of reactions from social media users.
Some fans took the post as harmless humour between a married couple, an example of Davido’s playful personality. Others, however, weren’t laughing. They argued the comment was inappropriate or insensitive, especially coming from a public figure whose personal life is constantly under scrutiny.

Social Media Reacts
Jabs like “He can’t stop cheating” and other slurs followed as users argued celebrity behaviour, marriage expectations, and the line between humour and accountability.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Davido and iShowSpeed have crossed paths.
While Speed visited Nigeria earlier in January, Davido surprised him on his 21st birthday with a FaceTime shout-out during a live stream.
He congratulated him on reaching 50 million YouTube subscribers, teasing a future collaboration.
