Cosmas Maduka’s Journey to Success

Maduka’s journey to success was fraught with challenges; he lost his father at the age of four and had to support his family by selling bean cakes on the streets.
By the age of seven, he became an apprentice and worked for seven years without pay, often sleeping in the shop where he worked.
At 17, he co-founded CosDave, an auto parts business that failed but laid the groundwork for his future. In 1977, he established Coscharis Motors, named partly after his late wife, Charity.
The company’s breakthrough happened in 1982 when it received an import licence from the Nigerian government, marking a turning point that led to national recognition and partnerships with global automakers.

Cosmas credits the principles of Jesus and hard work for his achievements. He is known for his ‘Jesus is Lord’ brooch.
Without formal education, he has served on the boards of two publicly traded banks and has established a multi-billion-dollar enterprise that spans five continents and fifteen African countries.

Despite all these setbacks, I gave my life to Jesus as a teenager, and my life changed. I learnt about business from Jesus. The principles of Jesus form all my business secrets. From the Bible, without going to any business school, I have built a global empire, and so can you too.”
