Around 11 a.m. today, 29 December 2025, world-famous Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a collision on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun, Ogun State. The incident resulted in serious repercussions when his Lexus SUV crashed into a parked truck.
What Really Happened?
Joshua was traveling in a two-car convoy consisting of a Pajero SUV and a Lexus SUV. He and two other passengers were seated behind the driver in the Lexus SUV. According to witnesses, rescue operations began immediately, and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers arrived shortly thereafter.

Security personnel pulled Joshua and the driver of the car out of his motorcade and took them to a hospital where they are now being treated.
According to the FRSC, five people were involved in the crash. Tragically, Joshua’s companion and the passenger seated next to the driver died at the scene.
The Ogun State Government confirmed that both fatalities were foreign nationals, and their bodies have been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu. Furthermore, members of Joshua’s security detail were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The state government described the incident as “deeply unfortunate and painful,” highlighting the devastation of the loss of life and the injuries sustained by other victims who are currently receiving care.
The Federal Road Safety Corps reported that the collision occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway due to excessive speed and improper overtaking.
Social media is full of comments about how dangerous Nigeria is, especially since there were no paramedics on sight.
