At 56, Bemi Orojuogun, affectionately known online as London Bus Aunty, has turned her love for London’s iconic red buses into a global phenomenon.
Originally from Nigeria, Bemi has lived in the United Kingdom for over three decades, working as a mental health nurse. But it is her bus-side TikTok videos that have made her a household name across London, Nigeria, and beyond.
Bemi’s content is simple. She rarely speaks and her videos, often shot from the pavement but appearing very close to the kerb, have sparked playful reactions online, including jokes from Nigerian fans imagining her recreating her content in busy Lagos streets.
Bemi’s journey into social media fame began almost serendipitously. “It was just a normal day,” she recalls. “I took a quick video, posted it on TikTok, didn’t think much about it, until my daughter called and said, ‘Mummy, you’re going viral!’ I was like, what?”
The video, filmed in front of a London bus, quickly amassed over four million views and marked the start of her social media journey. Since then, her videos have captivated millions, with one particularly popular clip in Greenwich racking up 48.1 million views on TikTok, featuring buses passing by to the soundtrack of Back for Good by Take That.

“I Met My Husband On A Bus…”
Bemi Justina Blessing‑Rain Orojuogun was born on 12 October 1969 in Ilaje, Ondo State, Nigeria. She was raised in a religious household (her father served as a prophet in their church), before relocating to the United Kingdom in the early 1990s.
Upon arriving in the UK, Bemi pursued higher education at City, University of London (sometimes referenced as “City St George’s, University of London”) and trained as a mental‑health nurse, a profession she continues to hold even as her online fame grows.
Bemi met her late husband on a double‑decker London bus during their commutes. Their bond grew, and together they built a life, until tragedy struck. In 2023, he lost his battle with cancer.
Before he died, Bemi says she made him a promise that she would continue celebrating life, never letting grief define her.
“My Love for London and Its Buses…”

Bemi’s love for London’s red buses dates back to when she first moved to the United Kingdom (UK). She said:
“There are four parts of London that I really, really love: red buses, red telephone booths, all the London bridges, and Big Ben. But buses are my main love.”
She credits the buses for helping her during the pandemic.
“Since Covid, the buses have been my main means of travelling, from home to work, shopping, everywhere. London is a beautiful place to see from the top of the bus. That’s my belief. I love it. And those red buses, take it from me, they represent London. I just wish we loved them a bit more. I wish people could love them the way I do.”
Bemi also uses her platform to spotlight the dedication of bus drivers, saying,
“I want to thank them for everything they did during Covid. They kept going. Without them, I couldn’t get to work. I think they’re fantastic.”
Buses for Bemi wasn’t just transport, they were the scene of love, meeting, and later, the remembrance of her late husband. It’s this personal touch that makes her content so relatable and endearing.
