A Lagos landlord has drawn widespread online attention after reducing a tenant’s rent by 50% to ease the financial burden after the tenant gave birth to twins.
@Dammi_Esq shared the story on X on September 30, 2026. According to the post, a friend who had just welcomed a set of twins through caesarean section received a letter from her landlord that morning.
The friend called in tears, and she immediately panicked, thinking something had happened to her babies, but found out it was tears of joy because of the unexpected gesture. 
The letter, dated September 29, 2026, and issued by a property management firm in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, confirmed a temporary 50% rent reduction for the next six months, beginning from October 2026.

What the Letter Read
The landlord wrote that he had been informed that the tenant’s wife had delivered twins via caesarean section and understood that the period would involve extra medical and family expenses.
In light of this, the landlord would reduce the rent by half for six months. All other terms of the tenancy remained unchanged, and the rent would return to the full amount afterward unless a new agreement were reached in writing.
The letter closed with congratulations to the couple and a prayer for the children’s good health.
