Nigerian filling stations have reduced their Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump prices by between N35 and N90 per litre, about three weeks after Dangote Refinery reduced its gantry price.
Dangote sold Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) at N1,580 per litre on August 19. That price was N70 below Pinnacle’s N1,650 and N85 below Ardova’s N1,665, according to depot prices recorded the previous day and examined by Petroleumprice.ng.
Ibeto, Ibachem and Duport each quoted N1,660 per litre, while Gulf Treasure, Integrated, African Terminal and T.Time also sold at the same price.
The gap was smaller for PMS. Dangote’s PMS price stood at N1,175 per litre on August 19. African Terminal and Integrated quoted N1,195, while Nipco quoted N1,198, based on prices recorded on August 18.
Dangote Refinery has announced several fuel price cuts in 2026. Here is a look at the reductions so far.
1. February 10: N799 to N774
Dangote Refinery cut its petrol price by N25, taking it from N799 to N774 per litre.
The refinery made the change while Brent crude traded around the $70 range.

2. March 10: N1,175 to N1,075
The refinery made a bigger cut in March, taking N100 off the price of petrol.
The price dropped from N1,175 to N1,075 per litre after crude oil prices briefly fell below $100.

3. March 26: N1,275 to N1,200
Dangote Refinery cut another N75 from its petrol price on March 26.
The price moved from N1,275 to N1,200 per litre as the refinery adjusted to market conditions and competition in the depot market.
4. May 30: N50 cut
Dangote Refinery announced another N50 reduction in its petrol price on May 30.
The cut took the PMS gantry price to N1,200 per litre.

5. June 16: N75 cut
The refinery followed up with another reduction on June 16.
It took N75 off the petrol gantry price, moving the ex-depot price from N1,250 to N1,175 per litre.
6. July 2: N50 cut
On July 2, Dangote Refinery reduced its ex-gantry petrol price by N50.
The price fell from N1,125 to N1,075 per litre. The reduction brought the refinery’s total petrol price cuts since May 30 to about N200 per litre.
7. August 5: N50 cut
Dangote Refinery announced another petrol price reduction on August 5.
It reduced the ex-depot price from N1,215 to N1,165 per litre.
The refinery also cut the price of diesel by N80, taking it from N1,650 to N1,570 per litre.
Dangote Group said the price review would help improve energy affordability and access to refined petroleum products.
