1. Focus and Understand Your Business

Dangote advised entrepreneurs to remain focused on their goals and understand their chosen industries.

He urged them to clearly define what they want to achieve before starting a business.

“One of my first advice to them is to be very focused and for them to understand what they really want to do and understand the business that they are going to go into,” he said.

According to Dangote, a strong understanding of an industry provides a solid foundation for building a successful business.

2. Persevere and Stay Tough

Aliko Dangote’s business advice stressed the importance of perseverance and mental toughness.

He said entrepreneurs must remain committed even when they face challenges and setbacks.

“They also have to persevere and be tough in what they are going to do,” Dangote added.

For him, resilience remains essential because every business faces difficulties at some point.

3. Separate Social Life From Business

Dangote advised entrepreneurs to maintain discipline and avoid allowing their social lives to distract them from business.

He argued that building a successful company requires significant focus and commitment.

“If you want to enjoy life, then you will not be able to work. It’s always better to make the money, then you can enjoy your life,” he said.

The Costly Mistake Entrepreneurs Should Avoid

Apart from Aliko Dangote’s business advice is what he described as a common “African mistake” among entrepreneurs.

According to him, many business owners spend projected income before they actually receive it.

He warned entrepreneurs against spending money based on expected earnings.

“I advise entrepreneurs that they don’t go on spending their projected income; they better let the money come in first before they start spending.”

Dangote’s advice centres on discipline, patience and financial prudence.

He believes entrepreneurs should understand their businesses, remain focused, protect their cash flow and delay gratification.

These principles, he suggested, can help business owners avoid costly financial mistakes and build sustainable ventures.
