The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards red carpet was themed ‘A Touch of Glitter’ — and Ghana showed up to take the brief seriously. From crystal-encrusted gowns to a white lace-hooded suit that looked like it walked off a Paris runway, the night delivered fashion moments that will be circulating on timelines long after the trophies have been put on shelves.
Here are the seven looks that had everybody talking.
1. AJ Poundz

This dress says everything without saying a word. A floor-length red velvet and crystal gown with one dramatic shoulder and silver embroidery crawling up the bodice like it was placed there by hand, because it was. The train pools behind her. The posture says she knew exactly what she was doing when she got dressed.
This is the kind of look that makes everyone else on the carpet feel slightly underprepared. Bold, romantic, and precise. A full ten.
2. Regina Van Helvert

The deep burgundy beaded gown with its dramatic flared hem and looping shoulder straps is the kind of outfit that photographs differently depending on the angle. From the front, it is elegant and intricate. The floral velvet bloom at the base, dark plum against the wine red of the skirt, is the detail that separates this from every other sequined dress that walked the carpet.
The TGMA backdrop of red roses behind her was almost redundant. She brought her own garden.
3. Piesie Esther

The gold and neon yellow stage costume deserves its own paragraph. A structured crystalline bodice with golden leaf cutouts, sheer sleeves, and a sweeping chartreuse tulle skirt — she did not walk onto that stage to be pretty. She walked on to perform, and the costume moved with her like it was part of the choreography.
Then she changed. The second-stage look, a flowing patchwork costume made entirely of mismatched fabric scraps in every colour imaginable, was either the most intentional artistic statement of the night or the most chaotic, depending on who you ask. White linen, burgundy satin, gold cloth, and teal tulle yellow panels, all layered and draped like a living textile installation.
It looked like something between a carnival masquerade and a fine art installation. Whether it was fashion or theatre is genuinely unclear. What is clear is that it was unforgettable.
4. Charly D

The red velvet corset dress with its sweetheart neckline edging, crystal detailing, and thigh-high slit against the TGMA red carpet is the kind of colour coordination that feels intentional even if it wasn’t. The platinum blonde finger-wave hair, heavy eye makeup, and the stillness of the pose gave this look a vintage Hollywood energy that nobody else on the carpet touched.
She did not match the carpet. She owned it.
5. Black Sherif

A crystal-encrusted white suit, open to the chest, with a white lace veil draped over the head and narrow tinted glasses underneath it. This is the look that divided the internet cleanly into two camps, genius or confusion, and inspired exactly the conversation it was designed to inspire.
The craftsmanship is undeniable. The crystals cascade down the lapels like water. The lace hood is not an afterthought; it is the whole statement. This is what happens when a man decides fashion is not a gendered conversation and wears something that proves the point.
Whether you loved it or needed a moment with it, you were not ignoring it. That is always the point.

6. Fella Makafui

Silver rhinestones. Gold mirror-tile panels arranged in a diamond pattern across a strapless column dress. A crystal clutch. A pageboy cut with a precision fringe. This look understands the assignment; the theme was ‘A Touch of Glitter’ and it exceeded it without screaming.
It is the restraint that makes it work. No train, no drama, no excess. Just a woman standing in a dress that catches every light in the room and sends it back out multiplied. Quiet confidence in sequin form.
7. Mona Faiz Montrage (Hajia4Reall)
Hajia wore a one-sleeved leather dress with a thigh-high slit, but the most talked-about part of the outfit was the figure beside her, clothed in black from head to toe with their head covered.

7. Afriyie
This influencer channeled her inner Swan Princess in a stunning ball gown featuring two swans facing each other.

TGMA 27 delivered a night of music, fashion, and celebration at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre. The awards went to the right people. But if Ghana is honest with itself, the fashion conversation started before the first trophy was handed out, and for at least seven of these looks, it will keep going for a while.
