Nigeria’s biggest commercial city just made a new impressive security move.
The Lagos State Government has officially launched dedicated Security Tip Lines residents can all play our part in keeping the city safer.
The details of the development were shared in a statement posted on X by Ridwan Ajetunmobi @Riddwane, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
What is it about?
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) just activated two special lines where you can lodge security threats. Residents can send videos, pictures, voice notes, or plain text about any suspicious or security-related stuff happening in the neighbourhood.
Something like a random car that’s been parked suspiciously for days, unusual gatherings at odd hours, or anything that just doesn’t feel right.
“To adapt to evolving security challenges, the Lagos State Government has strengthened its intelligence gathering efforts, broadening public access to reporting security concerns in their neighbourhoods,” the statement read.

What Are the Lagos Security Tip Lines?
The numbers to reach out to are:
0911 019 5555
0916 201 1179
It is important to note that these numbers are messaging-only lines. You can not call them like 767 or other emergency numbers.
Now, instead of just tweeting “Na wa o” and moving on, you can actually send real info that helps the authorities act faster.
This is part of bigger plans to level up intelligence gathering and stay ahead of whatever security challenges are popping up.
What To Know Before You Send Anything
- Confirm credibility: Make sure you are not sending messages based on rumours, hearsay or beef. Make your confirmations before sending anything. False reports can land you in trouble.
- Your identity is protected (confidentiality is assured).
- These lines are not for emergencies. If something is happening right now and lives are in danger, still use the usual 767 or 112 emergency lines.
