Nigeria’s beauty industry is growing rapidly, and much of that success is thanks to women who identified market gaps and decided to fill them.
What’s even more interesting is how they’ve done it. Some started in their kitchens, mixing raw ingredients, while others turned side hustles into full-blown brands that people now swear by. A few didn’t just join the industry; they helped build it from the ground up.
Today, their brands are shaping how Nigerian women and men alike care for their skin, apply makeup, and even perceive beauty itself. 
According to Nairametrics the beauty industry was valued at an estimated $7.8 billion as of 2023, with expectations to reach $9.7 billion by the end of that year.
Here are the women leading the charge and making serious moves in Nigeria’s multi-billion-dollar beauty space.
1. Joycee Awosika
Joycee Awosika is the brain behind ORÍKÌ Group, a luxury skincare and wellness brand that focuses on African-inspired beauty treatments. Her brand’s combination of natural ingredients and modern spa experiences has positioned it as one of the premier self-care brands in Nigeria.
2. Tara Fela-Durotoye
Tara is a pioneer of Nigeria’s modern beauty industry. She founded House of Tara, one of the first indigenous makeup brands in the country, and helped professionalise makeup artistry in Nigeria. She has also trained thousands of makeup artists across the nation.
3. Onyeka Michael-Ugwu
Hello Perfect is a leading skincare clinic run by Onyeka Michael-Ugwu. Her brand focuses on medical-grade cosmetic treatments and skin health, helping clients achieve clearer, healthier skin.
4. Ifedayo Agoro
Ifedayo Agoro founded DANG (Diary of a Naija Girl), a lifestyle and empowerment platform for Nigerian women. Although it began as a community, its skincare line, DANG Lifestyle, plays a significant role in shaping conversations around self-care and womanhood.
5. Ore Runsewe
Ore founded Arami Essentials, a skincare brand renowned for its use of natural, locally sourced ingredients. Her brand stands out for promoting a “less is more” approach to effective skincare rooted in African heritage.
6. Hilda Ashio Titiloye
Dr Hilda is the founder of Skin101 Clinics, a brand focused on dermatology-backed treatments. She is known for combining medical expertise with beauty, offering clinical solutions for acne, hyperpigmentation, and other skin concerns.
7. Stella Ndekile
Stella created Nuban Beauty, a makeup brand that gained massive popularity for foundation shades specifically tailored to darker skin tones. Nuban Beauty products are designed to make women of colour feel confident in their own skin.
8. Chidiogo Mbelede
Chidiogo is the founder of House of Coco, a skincare brand that focuses on natural, handmade beauty products. House of Coco products are crafted with organic ingredients that nourish and rejuvenate the skin. The brand has successfully carved out a niche for itself in the organic beauty market.
9. Oke Maduewesi
Zaron Cosmetics, founded by Oke Maduewesi, is one of Nigeria’s most recognisable beauty brands. Zaron is known for offering high-quality makeup products at accessible prices, becoming a staple for multiple generations of Nigerian women.
10. Adeola ‘Diiadem’ Chizoba Adeyemi
Popularly known as Diiadem, she is a beauty guru, influencer, and the CEO of Beauty by AD, which she founded in 2016. The company operates a flagship facility in Lagos and has become a major player in the premium makeup space. She was also a cast member of the Real Housewives of Lagos.
