Former BBNaija winner Phyna has made history as Nigeria’s first woman to win a celebrity boxing match.
The reality star, born Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing at the Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos. The event was organised by Balmoral Promotions.
The celebrity boxing bout took place on October 1, with both women stepping into the ring before an excited crowd. Many expected Nkechi Blessing to have the advantage because of her physical stature. However, Phyna defied those expectations and delivered a decisive performance. 
She knocked out the actress in the fourth and final round.
Celebrity Boxing: Phyna Wins ₦50m, Car and Championship Belt
Following her victory, Phyna walked away with the event’s grand prize which included a championship belt, a brand-new car and ₦50 million.
The former reality star dedicated her victory to women who have faced doubt or been told they could not succeed. She also issued a challenge to Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia.
According to Phyna, Etinosa has been sending her direct messages about a possible rematch. Etinosa, who is also an actress and Edo-born like Phyna, was also present at the venue and watched the bout from close to the ring.
Phyna’s victory adds another achievement to her growing public profile since winning BBNaija in 2022.

Phyna Celebrates Another October 2 Historic Victory
Following the fight, Phyna took to social media to celebrate her victory. She described October 2 as a special date in her life. She recalled winning BBNaija on October 2, 2022.
Four years later, she said she was celebrating another major victory after making history in the boxing ring. Sharing photos of herself sleeping on her bed with her recently won belt, Phyna wrote:
“October 2nd will forever be a special date in my life. Today marks the anniversary of the day I won BBN, and now, years later, I’m celebrating another historic victory: becoming the first female boxer to step into this ring and win this fight.
Hailing her successful celebrity career, Phyna dedicates her win to women who have been told they can’t achieve a feat.
“From reality TV to the boxing ring, I’ve always been willing to challenge myself, break barriers, and prove that there is so much more to Phyna than what people see. This one is for every woman who has ever been told she couldn’t. We can. We will. And we absolutely should.”
The celebrity boxing winner appreciates the organisers and sponsors of the boxing bout.
“A huge thank you to Balmoral Promotions and Bet9ja for giving me this incredible opportunity to step into a new chapter and make history.”
Phyna concluded, saying October 2 is her special day. She said:
“October 2nd a date of victory, courage, and new beginnings. BBN winner. Boxer. Champion. And this is only the beginning.”
