Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has accused Power Oil of using her image on billboards, buses and other adverts. She said her endorsement contract with the brand ended four years ago.
Johnson made the claim in an Instagram post on Monday, 28 September 2026, after she said she saw a Power Oil billboard featuring her at Nana Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja.
She said the company had not paid or consulted her since the contract expired. 
“They have my face on buses, billboards, what have you? Four years after my contract expired. The lawlessness,” she said.
Johnson asked Power Oil to check its direct messages and respond to her team. She also asked followers to record adverts featuring her image and share the date and location. She later shared footage from the original advert she filmed for the brand.
Power Oil and Johnson have worked together publicly before. In January 2023, Johnson reposted a Power Oil campaign featuring her and Joke Silva. In March 2024, the brand partnered with the fourth season of her cooking show, Mercy’s Menu. The Guardian reported that Power Oil was supporting the show for the second time.

Mercy Johnson has not published the contract terms, including any post-contract usage clause neither as Power Oil had not publicly responded to this query.
