Ibrahim Mahama, the CEO of Engineers and Planners, a West African indigenous mining company, recently acquired a new customised Bombardier Global 6500 private jet on March 3, 2026.
The aircraft, which was originally purchased in 2024, was delivered in February 2026 and arrived at Kotoka International Airport.

Ibrahim Mahama owned a Bombardier Challenger 604. It was widely known in Ghana as the “Dzata” jet before acquiring the Bombardier Global 6500 in 2026. Mahama’s change of private jet is a huge upgrade, making it a major leap in performance, range, and luxury for him.

On leaving the airport, when asked what he would do about his old jet, he said,
“My old plane is an air ambulance now. An emergency air ambulance for every Ghanaian, not for me alone, for every Ghanaian.”

However, the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Director, Paul Kwabena Yandoh, made a different argument during an interview on Angel FM. He said that Mahama should dedicate the new Bombardier Global 6500 private jet if he truly wants to be benevolent.
“If Ibrahim Mahama really wants to help Ghanaians, he should give us his new private jet instead of the old one,” he said.
Yandoh believes the old jet may be worn out and unsafe for emergency medical use.
“The old jet’s engine, tyres, and brake pads may no longer be fully reliable, so using it to save lives might be risky. We need the new one if he truly wants to help us save lives,” he added.
He further argued that a public emergency contact number should be made available so ordinary people can access the service. This, he said, would ensure that people in rural areas, including cocoa farmers, can actually benefit from it.
Many Ghanaians have since taken to social media to criticise Yandoh’s remarks, describing them as ungrateful and unnecessary.
Several users argued that donating any aircraft for public emergency use is already a significant gesture. Others suggested that his comments appeared to be an attempt to provoke public reaction rather than acknowledge the initiative.
