Heidi Klum stuns fans with gruesome severed hand costume for Halloween

Super model Heidi Klum has given Halloween fans another unforgettable spectacle, transforming herself into a gigantic, bloodied severed human hand to mark the 25th anniversary of her famous annual Halloween party.

The 53-year-old German supermodel unveiled the bizarre costume at her October 31, 2026, celebration at Cathédrale Restaurant in New York City. She arrived at the spectacle almost completely unrecognisable, with only her eyes and mouth visible.

The elaborate creation featured exposed-looking muscles, veins, dangling tendons and long red fingernails. It also included replicas of Klum’s engagement ring, wedding band and finger tattoo, making the oversized hand a recreation of her own left hand.

The latest transformation has once again reminded fans why Klum has earned the title Queen of Halloween. For 25 years, she has turned her annual party into a showcase of ambitious costumes, elaborate prosthetics and sometimes downright disturbing transformations.

Heidi Klum Halloween 2026 costume takes months to create

Klum reportedly worked with special-effects makeup artist Mike Marino and his ProRenFX team to bring the unusual idea to life.

The concept apparently came from Klum herself after she looked at her left hand and wondered whether she could fit her entire body inside an enlarged version of it. Using scans of her body, Marino’s team developed a replica that allowed her to appear as though she had become the giant hand.

Klum explained that the design required extensive planning, sculpting, moulding and engineering to make the oversized structure both realistic and wearable. The team spent months working on the creation, while the final transformation took approximately five to six hours on the day of the party.

Her arrival added another theatrical touch. Helpers dressed in blood-stained hazmat suits escorted her, while the gruesome appearance made it difficult for onlookers to identify the person inside the costume.

The supermodel later revealed that the costume was heavy and challenging to carry. She also changed out of the giant hand into another bloodied prosthetic look during the night.

Heidi Klum’s most bizarre Halloween costumes over the years

Klum’s reputation did not come from simply wearing expensive Halloween outfits. She has repeatedly embraced transformations that require her to surrender her appearance almost entirely.

Some of her most memorable creations include:

  • The giant worm (2022): Perhaps her most bizarre transformation, Klum arrived inside a long, wriggling earthworm costume, with her husband, Tom Kaulitz, dressed as a fisherman. The unusual look quickly went viral.
  • The human peacock (2023): She became the centre of an enormous peacock creation, with Cirque du Soleil performers forming the bird’s colourful feathers around her.
  • E.T. (2024): Klum and Kaulitz transformed into the famous extraterrestrial character from Steven Spielberg’s film. Vogue reported that more than 30 special-effects artists worked on the costumes, which took about a year to create.
  • Medusa (2025): She brought the Greek mythological figure to life with a scaled body, a forked tongue and a headpiece featuring snakes. Kaulitz completed the look as a soldier turned to stone.
  • Kali (2008): One of her more dramatic transformations saw her portray the multi-armed Hindu goddess associated with destruction and death.

Other memorable appearances include her transformation into a werewolf inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, a life-sized Transformer and a group of lookalikes that made her 2016 appearance a clone-themed spectacle.

With the gruesome severed hand, Klum has once again demonstrated that her Halloween costumes are less about dressing up and more about completely becoming something else.

And after 25 years of worms, monsters, mythical creatures and elaborate prosthetics, the Queen of Halloween appears to have no intention of surrendering her crown.
