The aftermath of the Osun State governorship election produced a light-hearted moment in Abuja on Thursday, August 20.
Governor Ademola Adeleke and Afrobeats star Davido visited FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. During the meeting, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, the formal occasion quickly turned playful when Davido and Wike exchanged banter over the election. The amusing moment has since attracted attention online. 
Davido boasts to Wike about Osun election victory
During the visit, Davido appeared confident about his role in the election. The singer jokingly claimed he defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) by himself.
Wike, a former two-term governor of Rivers State, quickly challenged the boast.
“Did you really beat them?” the minister asked.
Davido confidently replied in the affirmative. The exchange drew laughter from those present.
Davido has remained vocal about his support for his uncle, Adeleke. The singer also campaigned for the Accord Party during the election. His comments suggested that he viewed his political involvement as important to Adeleke’s victory.
However, the conversation soon took an even more humorous turn.

Wike threatens to ‘collect the certificate’ from Gov Adeleke
Wike, in response, jokingly told Davido that he would “collect the certificate back”. The minister was referring to Adeleke’s newly presented INEC Certificate of Return.
Davido immediately played along with the joke. In a dramatic response, the singer dropped to the floor and prostrated before Wike. He then moved closer and hugged the minister. The pair laughed as they continued the playful exchange.
Wike claimed Tinubu Could Have Helped APC Win Osun Election
On Tuesday 18, days after the election, the FCT minister had said President Tinubu could have secured an APC victory in the Osun governorship election.
Wike, a PDP member but Tinubu loyalist, said the president deliberately allowed the election to proceed without federal interference.
According to Wike, Tinubu could have used his political influence to guarantee an APC victory. He said:
“If the president had wanted to win the Osun state election at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it,” Wike said.
He added that no governor could have stopped such an effort.
Davido’s playful moment with Wike sparks reactions online
Videos and images from the meeting quickly generated reactions across social media. Many viewers found Davido’s dramatic response amusing.
Others focused on the unusual interaction between Davido who has vowed to have anything to do with APC, Tinubu and Wike, top minister of the president.
Earlier that day, the governor presented his Certificate of Return to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The certificate formally followed his victory in the Osun governorship election.
Adeleke’s visit to Wike therefore formed part of his post-election engagements in Abuja.
Meanwhile, Davido’s playful exchange with the minister became one of the day’s most entertaining moments.
The singer’s exaggerated prostration and Wike’s mock threat provided an unexpected highlight.
