Former Big Brother Naija Housemates Bella Okagbue and Segun ‘Sheggz’ Olusemo have been one of those BBNaija couples people either rooted for heavily or questioned constantly.
Their die-hard fans love them, while those who do not have very strong reasons, since there were rumours that he allegedly beat up his ex-girlfriend, Gbemi.
Their relationship started inside the BBNaija Level Up house in 2022, and from the beginning, it was never quiet. One moment, they looked inseparable. The next moment, social media was arguing over whether the relationship was romantic, emotionally intense, too fast, or simply stressful to watch under the cameras. But somehow, after the show ended, they stayed together. 
This made people take them seriously. Many BBNaija relationships struggle once the cameras disappear and reality sets in fast. The attention reduces. The pressure increases. Fans begin monitoring every post, every caption, every birthday message, and every unfollow. Before long, somebody is deleting pictures while the other person is posting quotes about healing and peace.
Have They Broken Up?
Many people have realised they no longer follow each other on Instagram.
For almost four years, Bella and Sheggz kept going. They celebrated anniversaries publicly. They appeared together during public events consistently. Fans got used to seeing them as one of the few BBNaija relationships that seemed to survive outside the house. At some point, Sheggz even dismissed breakup rumours publicly and referred to Bella as “my wife”.
However, during an X Space, fans openly discussed allegations involving Sheggz and, presumably, another former Big Brother Naija housemate, Mide. Sheggz also joined the space with his verified account.
Inside the space, people kept asking questions directly:
- Did Sheggz buy Mide a bracelet?
- Did Mide send him her address?
- Did he call her?
During these allegations, Sheggz remained silent in the chatroom, only responding with laughing and thumbs-down emojis.
The real issue was not even the bracelet story itself. It was the tone of the conversation. Fans sounded exhausted. For years, the “Shella” fanbase defended almost everything surrounding the relationship. If people called it toxic, they defended it. If blogs posted rumours, they demanded proof. If Bella was criticised for loving too hard, they defended her. If Sheggz was accused of certain behaviour patterns, they defended him too.
One speaker during the space reportedly defended Bella strongly, pointing out that she has not publicly embarrassed Sheggz, has not been linked romantically to other men, and has consistently stood beside the relationship despite online criticism over the years.
Fans also noticed that several pictures of Bella had allegedly disappeared from Sheggz’s page.
Bella’s recent post added even more speculation after she reflected on how the past few weeks had changed her perspective, reminding her to value life and family more deeply ahead of her birthday.
Then Sheggz posted his own message on X:
“Omo ologo 5G! Too loyal, too disciplined. I’ll never defend nonsense; I’ll never get distracted from my purpose. Blessed.”
He did not mention Bella. He did not mention Mide. He did not mention the space. But he did not need to; the internet already knew. Social media rarely believes in coincidence once relationship rumours start flying. Captions suddenly become evidence, and silence becomes suspicious.
Former Big Brother Housemate, Chizzy Francis also confirmed their breakup with a tweet, saying that, “Sometimes two people can love each other deeply, stay together for years, and still not be destined for marriage.”
This is the sad part about reality TV relationships. Fans do not just watch the relationship; they become emotionally attached to it. For the first time in a long time, the people who usually defend the relationship immediately are now the same people asking questions out loud.
Nothing has been confirmed publicly by either side.
