For years, Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has been speaking about her relationship with fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji.
According to Kate, she and Genevieve used to share a close bond. They attended events together and spent a lot of time around each other. Kate explained that things later changed between them. 
In 2023, she spoke about her relationship with her in an interview with Chude, she said, “We’ve had our issues, but not big issues. I have loved her, but sometimes, she pulls away, she pulls away from everybody, and you are like ‘ah, am I smelling?, What have I done, and you wonder. What is happening?
“Then we met to shoot a commercial, and before then, we haven’t seen, we haven’t spoken for years. And she was so nice to me. And then she left the set before us and said, ‘Kate I have gone, just want to say goodbye.’ But then, I respect her because despite the fact that she pulls away, I think she is like an Angelina Jolie. She just wants to be on your [her] own.”

During an appearance on the podcast Tea With Tay, the podcast host, Taymesan, asked Kate about her friendship with Genevieve and why they drifted apart. In response, Kate admitted that they had grown apart over the years.
Kate also recalled how she met with Genevieve in 2020 during a Netflix commercial shoot in South Africa she said Genevieve treated her warmly.
“She was very pleasant, and she was very nice to me,” Kate added.
She said, “Maybe she had a mistrust about me, I don’t know. We used to attend events together, and then there was a gap. I don’t know what happened, and I don’t know what came over her, but I have moved on.”
She explained that people come into one’s life for different reasons and seasons. According to her, some people remain permanently, while others only stay for a period of time. She compared friendships to roots, leaves, and branches, saying the strongest relationships are like roots because they remain firm through every stage of life.
