Veteran Ohangla singer Attomy Sifa stood in a Kenyan courtroom on Friday, July 31, not for his sharp political lyrics, but for allegedly stealing a bull belonging to a top politician.
The musician who is known for his unapologetic songs that call out leaders and governance failures in the Nyanza region of Kenya, appeared before the court alongside his DJ. The allegation was made by Homa Bay Woman Representative, Joyce Atieno Bensuda.
Tuko News reports, according to details shared in court, that the alleged incident took place on a Monday at Bensuda’s home while she was away. When she later followed up, she discovered that a bull and four sacks of charcoal had gone missing. The Woman Representative personally attended the court session to address the case.

In her statement to the court, Bensuda explained that she had sent people to find out what had happened only to realise the full extent of what had been stolen.
“Your Honour, I have come this morning because I wanted to ensure that Tony Sifa and the co-accused… would hand over the cow to me at my home,” she told the magistrate.
Bensuda has now recovered her bull and the four sacks of charcoal. She has since asked the court to release Atommy Sifa and his co-accused.
On 30 July 2026, Atommy Sifa was arrested and held overnight at Kendu Bay Police Station. He and a DJ from his club were accused of stealing a bull and four sacks of charcoal from the home of Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Bensuda.
Bensuda told the court the items disappeared on 27 July while she was away. She appeared in person to demand their return.
Atommy denied the charge. He said he had performed in Bondo over the weekend, returned home exhausted, and only noticed the bull in his compound the next afternoon.
He ordered a worker to tie it, assuming it belonged to a neighbour. Shortly after, people sent by Bensuda arrived, followed by police who arrested him.
The singer claims the case is revenge for a video he posted in June. In it, he highlighted the poor living conditions of people he said were Bensuda’s relatives and accused her of neglecting them. He insists he is the victim of a setup and wants the law to take its course, including compensation for damage to his reputation.
Attomy Sifa has built a reputation for fearlessly criticising politicians from Homa Bay and the wider Nyanza region. Now, ironically, he stood accused of taking something from one of them.
