Filmmaker Titilayomi has raised concerns over water safety after discovering a live wall gecko inside a sealed bottle of CWAY dispenser water bottle.
The filmmaker shared a video showing the reptile crawling inside the bottle, questioning how it passed the company’s quality control checks.
She also criticised the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) over what she described as a failure to protect consumers. 
Titilayomi said the discovery was particularly upsetting because she had experienced unusual health problems throughout the year. She had recently suspected her drinking water might be responsible. However, her decision to change her water supply led to an even more disturbing discovery.
Filmmaker Finds Live Gecko in Sealed CWAY Water Bottle
In a post shared X, Titilayomi said she bought two CWAY dispenser water refills over the weekend.
According to her, she discovered the living reptile after removing the seal from one of the bottles. She questioned how a gecko could end up inside a sealed water bottle without anyone detecting it during production or quality control.
“One can never be too careful in Nigeria. I just found a wall gecko in a sealed bottle of CWAY dispenser water. Zero quality control,” she wrote.
The filmmaker expressed frustration over what she described as the failure of organisations responsible for protecting consumers. She also urged Nigerians to remain cautious about the products they consume.

Titilayomi Links Health Concerns to Drinking Water
Beyond the disturbing discovery, the filmmaker revealed that she had experienced unusual health problems throughout the year. She said her condition had worried her family, prompting her to consider whether her drinking water was responsible.
Titilayomi subsequently decided to change her water supply, hoping the switch would improve her health. However, finding a live gecko inside the new bottle left her even more distressed.
“I have been unusually ill this year, very unlike my body. So bad my folks were worried. Figured it must be water-caused and made a change. As e be, it’s going from frying pan to fire,” she wrote.
She described the situation as another reminder of the challenges Nigerians face when trying to access safe products.
Filmmaker Calls Out NAFDAC, Sparks Online Reactions
Titilayomi also directed her anger at NAFDAC, questioning the agency’s quality control and consumer protection responsibilities. She expressed disbelief that a bottle bearing a quality control seal could contain a living reptile.
“NAFDAC is so dead! Nobody does their job! Bottle has quality control seal and all. By the way, I am livid,” she added.
