Mayorkun, an Afrobeats singer and songwriter who formerly signed with Davido’s record company, has revealed the advice OBO gave him when he gained fame in the music industry.
Davido Warned Mayorkun About Women
During an interview on In My Opinion, Mayorkun recalled how Davido pulled him aside shortly after he became popular in the music industry and gave him some advice.
Mayorkun said Davido noticed that he was becoming excited about women after he gained fame. He said the Afrobeats superstar advised him not to get too carried away with women and to focus more on his music career.
Mayorkun said that Davido told him:
“You see all these people, you will see them again, but you will see them with those who are new and when you are no longer in the lime light. So you need to reduce the height of bad bitches. Don’t have this bad bitch syndrome.”

Mayorkun Took Davido’s Advice
The singer admitted that he followed Davido’s advice because he understood the perspective behind it and became more aware of how fame could affect his choices. He continued:
“I saw what he was talking about, and I took his advice.”
The interview also touched on Mayorkun’s decision to largely avoid the public relationship problems that often surround musicians in his position. The show’s host acknowledged his approach throughout their conversation.
Mayorkun attributed his ability to stay grounded in that regard to the advice Davido gave him early in his career.
The conversation highlighted how Davido’s mentorship went beyond music, as he also taught his former signee about some of the social challenges that can come with fame in Nigeria.
