Abdul Samad Rabiu is the Chairman of BUA Foods Plc. He is a prominent industrialist and philanthropist, as well as the Founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group, a company he founded in 1988 that has grown to become one of Nigeria’s largest food, manufacturing, and infrastructure conglomerates with diverse investments.
Rabiu’s fortune has risen in recent years. According to Forbes, his net worth increased by $6.1 billion in the last year—a 120% increase—bringing it to $11.2 billion. This raises him to third place among Africa’s wealthiest individuals, trailing only Aliko Dangote and Johann Rupert.

The majority of this wealth comes from BUA Cement, whose shares have increased by about 135% in the last year. Rabiu owns 98.2% of BUA Cement Plc and 95% of BUA Foods, both of which are publicly traded on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).

He was the former Chairman of Tropical Commercial Bank from 1993 to 2000, as well as the Chairman of Nigeria’s Bank of Industry. In addition to his economic contributions, Abdul Samad Rabiu has made significant contributions to philanthropy and social development through the BUA Foundation and his Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa (ASR Africa) Initiative.
Hannatu Musawa

Hannatu Musawa, his ex-wife, serves as the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy. Musawa described Rabiu as one of the best experiences she has ever had, adding that the end of their marriage did not sever their connection.
“Abdul Samad will always have my heart, no doubt about that. He is one of the greatest experiences that I’ve ever had, but I have no regrets whatsoever—absolutely just happiness and pride in him as a member of my family,” she said.
Musawa stated that there is no animosity between them, that mutual respect exists, and that she will continue to be his cheerleader.
