Nigerian Artistes earned Over ₦60 billion on Spotify in 2025. According to Spotify’s annual Loud & Clear report, Nigerian artists earn approximately ₦1.98 per stream in 2025.

Beyond payouts, Spotify’s data shows that the Nigerian music ecosystem is rapidly expanding, both locally and internationally.

Audience engagement also increased significantly. Nigerian artists alone generated approximately 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on the platform in 2025. During the same time period, their songs were discovered by over 1.3 billion new listeners, a 26% increase over 2024.

The revenue generated by Nigerian artists on the platform has increased by more than 140% over the last two years. In 2024, it distributed ₦58 billion ($42.45 million).

Nigerian artists landed on nearly 2,000 editorial playlists in 2025, and listeners added their songs to almost 320 million user playlists worldwide, including over 12 million playlists created in Nigeria.

In 2025, Nigerian artists accounted for more than 80% of songs on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top 50 chart, highlighting the importance of local talent in shaping Nigerian audiences’ listening habits.

More than 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists were created on Spotify this year.

“Nigeria’s music story remains one of creativity, innovation, and global cultural influence,” said Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, Spotify’s Managing Director in Africa, in a statement. “What we’re seeing is a market in which talent is not only reaching new audiences around the world, but also establishing deeper connections at home.”

The report also highlights improving performance in various segments of the industry, particularly among female and independent artists.

Local streams of Nigerian female artistes increased by 55% year on year, while independent Nigerian artistes increased by 75% during the same period.

Independent creators and labels generated a significant portion of earnings, accounting for approximately 58% of all royalties earned by Nigerian artists on Spotify in 2025.

The number of Nigerian artists earning at least ₦10 million annually from Spotify has increased significantly, more than doubling since 2023 and tripling from 2022.

Globally, Spotify reported paying more than $11 billion in royalties in 2025, bringing its total payout to the music industry to nearly $70 billion. Approximately 13,800 artists earned at least $100,000, with over 1,500 earning more than $1 million from platform streams.

Although Spotify does not disclose individual royalty payments, streaming figures provide insight into the country’s most popular artists on the platform.

Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Burna Boy, Odumodublvck, BNXN, Davido, Rema, and Olamide are some of the most streamed Nigerian artists.

Ayra Starr is the most-streamed female artist in Nigeria, alongside globally recognised stars like Tems.
