Nigerian media powerhouse Mo Abudu is building even more anticipation for her upcoming film adaptation of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.
The project, based on Lola Shoneyin’s acclaimed novel, continues to draw attention across the continent as it brings together a mix of Nollywood veterans and new-generation stars.

Newly announced additions include Faithia Balogun, Damilola Adegbite, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Mike Ezuronye, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Maleek Sanni, and Mallu Marik.

They join an already impressive main cast led by Odunlade Adekola as Baba Segi. The cast also includes Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye, Omowunmi Dada, Shaffy Bello, and Bisola Aiyeola, forming one of the most talked-about castings in recent Nollywood productions.

The film which will be directed by Daniel Oriahi, explores the dynamics of a polygamous household, diving into themes of secrecy, power, love, and rivalry.
This production is a collaboration between EbonyLife Group, Genesis Group, Nile Media Entertainment Group, and Silverbird Group. It also marks EbonyLife’s return to filmmaking after a five-year break.
With a global premiere set for December 2026, expectations are high. With an adaptation set to be co-produced by Mo, fans of Mo’s work across Africa and the diaspora are eager for its release.
The author of the book initially shared the announcement of the adaptation earlier in January in a post where she said, “I’m thrilled to collaborate with @ebonylifestudios, my sister @moabudu, @heidiwena, and director @danieloriahi for the film adaptation of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives. The cast is truly remarkable”.
Mo Abudu has also worked on several other films and television series like Blood Sisters, Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke, Òlòtūré, Chief Daddy, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai and many others.
