During a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, Emmanuel Obasi became emotional while discussing the collapse of his marriage to the actress. At several points in the conversation, he appeared overwhelmed as he reflected on the events that followed their separation.
The interview quickly gained attention online, with many viewers sympathising with him and describing the moment as heartbreaking.

He went back to the time of their early relationship and the sacrifices he made. He claimed he paid for her WAEC, NECO, and JAMB, as well as those of her cousin. He also alleged that he bought the first phone she ever used.
For many Nigerians, the story dates back to the controversy surrounding Judy Austin’s relationship with actor Yul Edochie.
The relationship generated public attention and turned Judy Austin into one of the most discussed figures in Nollywood. It also placed renewed focus on her previous marriage to Obasi, who has repeatedly spoken about the circumstances surrounding their separation.

During the podcast, Obasi suggested that the experience had taken a significant emotional toll on him. He spoke about loss, disappointment, and the challenges he faced after the marriage ended.
He asked, “Judy Austin, what is my offence? “Did I deserve all these things?”
He also accused her of taking away his children because she has influence, asking for an opportunity to see them.
He claimed that everything was vandalised when she came to pack her things and that she moved everything the car could carry, leaving only the cushion.
In a recent post, he clarified that he wasn’t crying over Judy, but rather because he has no relationship with his children. He also criticized the Nigerian men who mocked him for showing emotion.
However, not everyone accepted the interview at face value.
Judy and Yul’s Response

Shortly after clips from the podcast began circulating, Judy urged people to go through his page and see that he has been contradicting himself over the years.
“Stop insulting Yul Edochie,” she said, “If anything, he has been a father figure to his(Obasi’s) children, taking care of children who are not even his biologically.”
She continue, “I met him(Yul) three years before my marriage ended, and that is not a crime…Are we really going to allow deadbeat fathers to lie about and shame single mothers?
“First, he claims I’m his wife, then he claims I’m not. If he has a real issue, he should go to court. But he won’t do that because he doesn’t want to shoulder the financial responsibility of being a father. Social media is not a court of law.”
While some people believe the emotional interview reflects the lasting impact of the situation, others argue that the full story may be more complicated than the podcast suggests.
Yul on the other hand said that if Obasi marries another woman, he would steal her again from him.
Some viewers expressed sympathy for a man they believe suffered privately while watching events unfold in public. Others urged caution, pointing to previous statements and arguing that the situation should not be viewed through a single perspective.
