Sony Music Africa has signed their first Namibian recording artist, Ms Gideon, in collaboration with ERA Music Group.
It is such a big deal since it places the 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Southern African music on the international stage. Are we expecting another Ayra Starr or Tyla?

Who is Ms Gideon?
Ms Gideon was born in Windhoek and soon became one of the most promising young talents in the region.
She broke into the limelight in 2024, after winning the Next Narrative Africa talent competition. This achievement was further amplified by a performance at New York’s historic Apollo Theater, where she shared the stage with more popular artists like Adekunle Gold and Patoranking.

Ms Gideon’s Music
Her musical style is full of emotive writing and combines soul, Afrobeats, and other African-rooted influences. Ms. Gideon hit a single, ‘Home,’ which achieved remarkable success by becoming the fastest Namibian song to garner one million views on YouTube.
Her recent signing with Sony Music Africa, Ms. Gideon, means she is on a new chapter in her career as a representative of the new wave of Namibian artists. It is such an important milestone for the musical landscape of Namibia and the record label in general.
Her debut single under this label, titled ‘Tiki Tak Tak,’ is set to be released later this month.
Ms Gideon is definitely showcasing the Namibian heritage and pride, as she’s about to be launched onto the international stage.
