Founder of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has stirred reactions online after a symbolic moment during a church service in which he threw his jacket into the congregation and described it as a “mantle of boldness.”

During the service, Enenche addressed the congregation, saying:

“I don’t claim to have it all, but I have a tiny measure. I am trusting God for more of the measure of spiritual violence, aggression, and boldness.”

The cleric further explained the purpose of the symbolic act before throwing his jacket towards the audience.

According to him:

“I want to send this for you to catch it. I want to send this for you to receive it. Whatever little thing has made us say some unsayable things, dare some undareable things, and confront some unconfrontable things, I want a little of it to drop on you.”

He continued:

“It is a vengeance mantle. It is a ruggedness mantle. It is a boldness mantle. Open your eyes and get ready to receive it. By the time it is flying, it does not need to reach where you are. Catch it and begin to blast in tongues. Father, let it fall, let it drop.”

After throwing the jacket into the congregation, several worshippers moved towards the podium in an attempt to touch it, while others stretched out their hands to receive what they believed was an impartation.

The people who touched the ‘mantle’ would need to share their testimonies to verify his claims.

However, as the video of the service circulated across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from users. While some viewed the act with humour, others described it as a meaningful spiritual gesture.

Reacting to the video, one X user joked that while some people attended church, others witnessed what felt like “a whole movie plot twist”.

Another user expressed surprise that educated individuals, including professors, were part of the congregation.

Someone said, “As a result of the economy, a lot of us are already mad in Nigeria, but it’s the grace of God that’s still keeping us looking normal.”

Others questioned why this doesn’t work outside the church: “What if this “mantle of boldness” is taken to the forest? What if he goes there with his boldness and confronts the kidnappers and bandits and then rescues the victims? What if he uses this to deliver the nation?”

While a netizen mused on why church workers do not fall down; “Are instrumentalists forbidden to partake in all of these miracles? Why dey nor dey fall?”

Some people defended the act and highlighted its spiritual significance. One user said prophetic actions such as the jacket toss could have a lasting impact on a person’s life and urged others not to dismiss it.

Christianity and religion have always been a private practice and a matter of conviction; what may be absurd to you is a deep spiritual action for others.
