A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Chisom Sandra Sunday, has been abducted by gunmen while travelling from her orientation camp in Niger State to Abuja, according to an appeal posted online by her sister.
Sunday Chidimma shared the account on her TikTok account @chidimma_33. She described how the attack occurred after Chisom finished her orientation camp. She was returning to Abuja to spend a few days before reporting to her Place of Primary Assignment in Niger State on Thursday, August 27.
What Happened
According to Chidimma, gunmen attacked the vehicle conveying Chisom and other corps members while they were en route Abuja. The driver was killed during the attack. Chisom and the other corps members were taken into the bush by the abductors.
The family was subsequently notified by the police but received no further updates from security agencies since that initial contact.
The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of ₦35 million for Chisom’s release and gave the family a 24-hour ultimatum to pay.

A Family With No Safety Net

Chidimma’s appeal adds another layer of pain. She disclosed that she and Chisom are orphans who recently lost their mother, leaving them without immediate family support.
She is publicly calling on the federal government, NYSC authorities, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Air Force, and the general public to intervene urgently to secure the release of her sister and the other abducted corps members.
Chidimma also appealed to social media activist VeryDarkMan to help amplify the case.
As of the time of this report, the NYSC, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies have not issued any official statement confirming the incident or providing details on rescue efforts.
