Fresh controversy has emerged following the burial of the late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo after a family member publicly raised concerns about events surrounding his life and death.
Ekubo Clinton, a member of the Ekubo family, shared a lengthy statement on Facebook in which he questioned the role Alex’s stepmother allegedly played in major decisions concerning the actor. According to Clinton, Alex’s stepmother arranged his marriage to the daughter of her close friend without the knowledge of members of the Ekubo Okwareke family. He claimed that relatives were surprised when they learned that Alex had gotten married.
Clinton further wrote that Alex gradually distanced himself from his paternal family and became closer to his stepmother’s family. He claimed that the actor attended events organised by his stepmother’s relatives but showed little interest in activities involving members of the Ekubo family. Clinton also alleged that Alex was not particularly close to his biological sister, Chioma, and instead maintained stronger relationships with his stepmother’s children. 
Speaking about the actor’s health, Clinton claimed that family members did not know Alex was ill before his death. He said relatives only learned about his passing after the news became public. He further alleged that Alex’s stepmother and some of the actor’s friends handled the burial arrangements without adequate involvement from members of the Ekubo family. According to him, the burial process moved too quickly and left several relatives with unanswered questions.
Clinton questioned the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death and called for more explanations from those who were closest to him before he passed away.

In a separate development, a blogger shared screenshots of messages allegedly sent by another member of Alex’s family. The person, whose identity remained anonymous, also made several claims about tensions within the family.
The anonymous source alleged that Alex’s biological mother did not attend the burial despite making efforts to stay informed about the funeral arrangements. The source also claimed that Alex’s biological sister was unaware of his marriage plans until shortly before the ceremony.
The individual further alleged that Alex’s stepmother played a significant role in shaping the actor’s personal relationships and family interactions.
The claims have ignited reactions on social media. However, no member of Alex Ekubo’s immediate family has publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
