Damilola Abdul Rasak Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. L.A.X started out as a rapper and was part of a three-man group called Flyboiz while he was still in high school. On August 20, 2013, L.A.X signed a deal with Starboy entertainment moments after releasing the critically acclaimed song titled ‘Caro’ which won him the “Diaspora Artiste of The Year” at the 2014 Edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
L.A.X gained early recognition after he worked with Wizkid on the hit song ‘Caro’. The collaboration introduced him to a wider audience and helped establish his name in the Afrobeats industry. L.A.X comes from a well-established and influential family in Nigeria. His father, Taiwo Afolabi, is a respected businessman and the founder and chairman of Marriott Hotel and SIFAX Group, a major Nigerian conglomerate with operations across several key sectors.
SIFAX Group operates in maritime shipping, port management, aviation and cargo services, logistics, supply chain operations, oil and gas support, and hospitality. The company has grown into a strong force in Nigeria’s private sector and plays a major role in trade and transportation services.

Taiwo Afolabi has built his business empire through long-term planning and diversification. His leadership expanded SIFAX Group into industries that support both local and international commerce.

L.A.X’s mother, Folashade Esther Afolabi, lives a private life away from media attention. She supported a stable home environment and played a key role in his upbringing and education.

In 2023, L.A.X completed a 25-city European tour following the release of “No Bad Vibes.” He also performed across countries including Germany, Belgium, and Turkey during an 11-city summer run.
