One of the biggest music festivals in the world, Coachella, featured Nigeria’s biggest stars on its stage this year.
Former teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, the headline artist for Coachella 2026, allegedly received $10 million for his appearance. He took over the main stage on Day 2 (11 April, 2026) and reportedly chose his setlist randomly from YouTube.
During his performance, he invited Wizkid and Tems to join him for the remix of ‘Essence’, the global hit on which he was featured. Both artists wore black outfits, singing their hearts out to a hyped crowd.
Davido also performed at Coachella, appearing on the “Gobi” stage. This was a huge moment for the singer, who sang various songs from his vast catalogue like ‘Gobe’ ‘With You’ and ‘Nakupenda’. His presence at coachella was clear proof that he has a global sound and a loyal international audience.
While many critics continue to bemoan the supposed decline of Afrobeats, seeing these three artists command such a massive platform disproves that theory. Their presence at Coachella 2026 means that the genre remains a dominant force in the global music industry.
DJ Spinall also had a set at Coachella, he brought out Eyo dancers from Lagos state during his performance.
As long as Nigerian artists continue to headline and collaborate at this level, the influence of Afrobeats is still on the rise.
