John Boyega recently stunned the entertainment world as he revealed he has been secretly married for almost two years, and he’s even expecting a baby boy.
Boyega made the revelation in an interview with The Guardian, published on October 4, ahead of a BBC Two documentary about the killing of his childhood friend, Damilola Taylor. Asked about the ring he was wearing, he said, “I’ve been married for coming up to two years now.”
Boyega also has a young stepson, according to Arise News, which aggregated the Guardian interview.
John Boyega secret marriage: small ceremony, bigger party planned

The British-Nigerian actor actor said life now feels complete in terms of family. He said he wants to be a present, consistent and loving parent.
Boyega said he has also tried to step back from his career, especially after periods of heavy work. He said some moments call for putting family first.
John Boyega rose to fame as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015 and later appeared in Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Woman King. He has generally kept his private life out of the spotlight.
The Damilola Taylor documentary behind the interview
The interview was tied to Damilola: The Untold Story, which was due to air on BBC Two on October 5, according to Far Out magazine. Damilola, a 10-year-old Nigerian schoolboy, was killed in Peckham, south-east London, on November 27, 2000. The Preddie brothers were later convicted of his manslaughter in 2006.

Boyega, who was eight at the time, was among the last people to see him alive. He first spoke publicly about the friendship in March 2024 on BBC Radio 4’s Last Word, following the death of Damilola’s father, Richard Taylor.
In the Guardian interview, Boyega said the psychological impact has stayed with him but now shows up as appreciation for being alive. He recalled being “very scared” as a child as stabbings became part of daily life. He said the hardest part of making the documentary was revisiting the poverty his family endured.
John Boyega’s revelations offers a rare glimpse into his private life as he prepares for fatherhood.
