Oman has confirmed that travellers from more than 100 countries and regions can enter without a visa for up to 14 days, and the benefit extends to three close family members. The Oman visa-free entry policy is part of a wider push to make tourism easier.
The Foreign Ministry says the exempted countries are split into two groups, and the policy is meant to ease services for tourists.
Citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, do not need visas at all. Eligibility for everyone else depends on which list their country falls under.
Citizens of second-list countries face extra conditions. They must be residents of, or hold a valid entry visa for, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Schengen countries or Japan.
GCC residents in approved professions may also qualify.
The three family members covered
The husband, wife and children of an eligible traveller can use the facility even if they are not nationals of a qualifying country.
- Husband
- Wife
- Children
This matters most for mixed-nationality households. A family that would normally need separate visa applications can travel together on one eligible passport. The exemption applies to spouses and children accompanying eligible travelers, whatever their nationality.

The 14-day stay cannot be extended or converted into any residence visa. Travellers wanting longer can apply for an e-visa through the Royal Oman Police portal.
Oman has also added a separate option. Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026 allows a free 14-day tourist visa for nationals of designated countries. The full list of eligible nationalities had not been published when those reports appeared, so visitors should not assume their passport qualifies automatically.
What Oman visa-free entry means for tourism
Fewer pre-arrival formalities should make short family trips simpler to plan. Check your country’s status and the latest conditions on the Foreign Ministry or Royal Oman Police websites before booking.
Rules can change, and Oman visa-free entry depends on both your nationality and your travel documents.
