Apple is working on a new generation of AirPods that will include built-in cameras. The cameras are not meant for taking photos or recording videos; instead, they will help power a smarter and more advanced version of Siri.
The upcoming AirPods will use the cameras to capture visual information and send it directly to Siri. This feature will allow the AI assistant to understand what the user is seeing in real time.
A user could also walk into a room, point the AirPods toward an object, and ask Siri to identify or explain what is in front of them.
The technology aims to turn AirPods into an AI-powered assistant that can “see” and respond based on the user’s surroundings. This upgrade could make Siri more interactive and useful in everyday situations.

To address privacy concerns, Apple plans to include a privacy LED indicator on the AirPods. The light will turn on whenever the device transmits visual data, giving users a clear signal that the cameras are active.
Apple will release the enhanced Siri experience in September, while production of the camera-equipped AirPods is already underway.
