Burke was arrested for the murder case involving the 14-year-old on April 16. He was charged with three counts, including first-degree murder, sexual abuse of a minor, and mutilation of a body. According to Good Morning America, authorities allege that he had an illegal sexual relationship with the girl while she was underage. They claim he then killed her to prevent her from exposing the relationship, which could have damaged his music career.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said, “There is physical evidence, and there is forensic and digital evidence, that we intend to present in court to prove these charges beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Hernandez’s death was ruled a homicide in the post-mortem report by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. The medical report showed that she had wounds in her torso, likely caused by the penetration of a sharp object.

According to the New York Post, the two had known each other since 2022, when Hernandez was 12. She was last known to be alive on April 23, 2025, when she went to Burke’s house in Hollywood Hills. Subsequently, her dismembered and decomposing body was found in the trunk of Burke’s abandoned and impounded Tesla on September 8, 2025.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to the murder case involving the 14-year-old and all other charges. His lawyers maintain his innocence and state they will fight the case in court.

The case is ongoing, and he has not yet been convicted. However, according to Hochman, he faces a maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
