Iyabo Ojo has addressed the viral video from the premiere of The Return of Arinzo involving Nigerian actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
Following the “snub” incident at the premiere, many fans took to social media to accuse Iyabo Ojo of taking sides. They also questioned why she could not settle the differences between Akindele and Abraham, given her friendship with both women. Iyabo Ojo has now broken her silence to explain why the conflict occurred and to set the record straight.
She wrote: “For those of you attacking my character, insulting me, and calling me unprintable names, this is for you… This is the first and the last time I’ll be addressing this issue.” 
Iyabo made it clear that she has been friends with Funke Akindele for a very long time. She revealed that they had fallen out multiple times in the past, including an instance where she “dragged” Funke online in defense of a film by Toyin Abraham. However, Iyabo and Funke have since resolved their issues and decided to put the past behind them.

It is no secret that Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham have had multiple clashes over the years, particularly regarding the timing of their cinema releases.
Iyabo Ojo stated that she has previously cried, knelt, and begged both parties to embrace peace, which they initially did. However, there was a strict condition: neither party was to “throw shade” online if a conflict arose.
While both promised to address issues off-camera, tensions resurfaced in December when Toyin complained about the performance of her movie in cinemas. She claimed that certain individuals were attempting to sabotage her, leading fans to point accusing fingers at Funke. This sparked a fresh conflict.
The video Toyin Abraham released in December, accusing cinemas of issuing incorrect tickets instead of those requested for her movie, directly led to Funke Akindele snubbing her at The Return of Arinzo premiere.
Iyabo also mentioned that Toyin Abraham was originally cast in The Return of Arinzo, but Toyin pulled out at the last minute, citing exhaustion and travel plans. This forced Iyabo to rewrite parts of the script, which caused temporary friction. Toyin later apologised, and the two made peace.
Iyabo concluded: “Honestly, all this saddens me because the sky is big enough for all. I have tried my best, but at this point, I can’t beg anyone anymore. I honestly don’t want to get involved anymore. Please, you all should respect that when both parties are ready, they will make peace. I love them both regardless.”
