The strong turnout reflects the high-quality productions that continue to make each of these moviemakers powerhouses in the film industry.
1.Onobiren: A Woman’s Story

Laju Iren, a Nollywood filmmaker and author, premiered her film ‘Onobiren: A Woman’s Story’ in cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana, grossing N30.1 million in ticket sales during its opening weekend, propelling it to the top of the Nigerian box office from March 6 to March 8, 2026.
This is Laju Iren’s first film as an executive producer. The film’s release coincided with Women’s Month, and its plot focused on women’s experiences and the importance of community support.
The film topped the weekend box office from March 6 – March 8, 2026, becoming the highest-grossing title in Nigerian cinemas during that time, outperforming both Nollywood and international releases.
The film stars Ruby Akubueze, Bisola Aiyeola, Deyemi Okanlawon, Patience Ozokwor, Norbert Young, and Desmond Bryce.
The milestone marks Iren’s first cinema release as an executive producer, establishing the project as a notable entry into the competitive theatrical market, with a gross of ₦100 million in 20 days.
2. Love and New Notes

Kayode Kasum directed ‘Love and New Notes’, a romantic drama in which Timini Egbuson stars and serves as executive producer, alongside Sophie Alakija, Odunlade Adekola, Eniola Badmus, Toluwani George, and others. Love and New Notes, released on February 13, 2026, earned ₦28.3 million this weekend, bringing the total to ₦294.2 million after four weeks.
The film is currently the highest-grossing Nollywood film of the weekend, having grossed 362 million as of the time this article was published.

3. Mother’s Love

‘Mother’s Love’ is a heartfelt Nigerian drama directed by and starring Omotola Jalade‑Ekeinde as Labake, a devoted mother navigating the joys and challenges of raising her daughter Adeola, played by Noray Nehita.
The film also features strong performances from Lilian Afegbai, Nosa Rex, Olumide Oworu, and other talented actors, weaving a story full of family bonds, personal sacrifice, and the resilience needed to face life’s unexpected twists
Omotola announced that the proceeds of the movie will be going to charity organisation, Slums2School.
4. Behind The Scenes

Funke Akindele directs and produces the family comedy-drama, in which he also stars.
The plot revolves around a successful woman dealing with constant demands from relatives, and it emphasises themes of generosity, family expectations, and emotional labour through scenes of tense family gathering. The film, released in December 2025, grossed ₦11.9 million this weekend, bringing its total earnings to ₦2.72 billion in 12 weeks.
