In the Nigerian entertainment industry, talent isn’t the only thing that keeps fans talking. Oftentimes, it’s the social media drama. From subtle social media shade to full-blown online call-outs, some male celebrities in Nigeria really know how to dish it out, however and whenever there’s something bothering them.

Whether it’s about music, money, loyalty, or ego, the public clashes often take over timelines and have fanbases exchanging words. Nigerian male celebrities know how to keep the timeline shaking. So grab your popcorn; let’s talk about the men who are currently not seeing eye to eye.

1. Davido and Wizkid

The rivalry between Davido and Wizkid has lasted for over a decade and is one of the most talked-about in Afrobeats. While they have had moments of peace, things have flared up several times on social media.

In 2024, both artists traded words on X (formerly Twitter), with Wizkid posting remarks many saw as direct shade, including calling Davido’s music “mid”, while Davido fired back with insults and accused Wizkid of being bitter.

Over the years, their tension has mostly revolved around supremacy in the industry, and although neither of them has released an official diss track at the other, their online exchanges and fan wars have kept the beef alive for more than 10 years.

2. Davido and Burna Boy

Davido and Burna Boy’s issues became more obvious around 2020 during debates about who truly leads the Afrobeats movement globally. That same year, Burna Boy made comments online that fans interpreted as jabs at Davido’s status, and Davido released “FEM”, which many listeners believed was directed at Burna Boy, although Davido later said it wasn’t specifically about him.

In 2022, things got worse than imagined when both artists were reportedly involved in a nightclub fight in Ghana, further fuelling rumours of bad blood. Their beef has lasted roughly five to six years.

3. 2Baba and Blackface

The beef between 2Baba and Blackface dates far back to the early 2000s after the breakup of their group, Plantashun Boiz. The major source of conflict has been the hit song “African Queen”.

Blackface has repeatedly claimed that he contributed the most to writing the song and has accused 2Baba of taking undue credit. Over the years, Blackface has publicly criticised 2Baba in interviews and on social media, sometimes calling out the industry as well. 2Baba has maintained that while it was a collaborative effort at some point, he wrote most of the song.

This disagreement has resurfaced multiple times over more than 20 years, making it one of Nigeria’s longest-running celebrity disputes.

4. VDM and Mr Jollof

The beef between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and Mr Jollof began in 2024, with both men exchanging insults over social commentary and accusations tied to product promotions and personal credibility.

Mr Jollof first accused VeryDarkMan of being gay and selling his nudes to make money, after which VDM responded, matching the energy. Their online back-and-forth escalated dramatically in November 2025 when they got into a physical fight on a flight in Nigeria.

5. Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez

The 2025 feud between Nigerian rappers Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez progressed from internet jabs to insulting each other through rap lyrics – the old-fashioned way. I guess they are going in the direction of 2Pac and Biggie. The tensions are centred around lyrical ability, perceived disrespect, and rivalry for supremacy.
